Need to take a plate ?
But what to take .... Looking for a quick and easy snack to take for  Shared festive lunches  or to add to a  Barbeque meal ?
Crostini is  the perfect solution.  A plate of freshly topped crisp Crostini  colorful and mouthwatering will have people heading back for more and it doesn't need to cost a fortune to prepare either.
Once you prepare your Crostini they can sit there until you need them and them top them fast and easy with whatever you have in the pantry.

How to ?
Turn oven on to 190 Degrees on Bake while you prepare your slices.

Slice one or two French Sticks or Loaves thinly - how thin depends on how crisp you like your Crostini or how fast they will cook.  Make a few loaves at a time so you always some on hand.
Brush liberally with Olive Oil.
Rub bread with fresh garlic and add to the Olive Oil  *Tip: use oil that already has garlic added to make it easier or you can sprinkle with garlic salt before baking.
Spread out on a tray in a single layer and bake for 10 minutes until crisp.  Turn to other side and bake a further 2 - 3 mins.
Remove to cool on a wire cooler or plate - do not cover or they won't stay crisp and will steam and go soft instead.

Repeat with the rest of your slices.  We make quite a lot at once and keep it until needed. Store when cool in an airtight tin.

Toppings:  Only limited by your imagination !
The Crostini pictured were spread with a layer of Fruit Chutney, or we like Peach chutney that we made at home, tomato, a small slice of cheese and basil to add a touch of color.

Further suggestions:
A sprinkling of Parmesan, chopped herbs, cream cheese, any sort of dip or spread, salsa is great on them or just plain and simple and unadorned as a dipping tool for your dips.
Avocado is delicious and so is mushroom either as a paste or pate or marinated.  Scrambled tofu or mashed up egg if you are not vegan, topped with lots of fresh herbs.
Sprinkle fresh herbs on the Crostini before  baking gives more taste.
Fresh peas, broad bean or pumpkin made into dips give you bright color and taste and Pesto made with parsley looks amazing with its brilliant emerald color.
Try some and you will find your own favorites.
